It’s December, Christmas is fast approaching and boy, is it cold!
As temperatures drop and the pre-Christmas stress sets in, we thought it would be fun to share one of our favourite ways to use Hocus, which is very time-of-year appropriate.
We’re going to make a Hot Toddy – which is just the perfect drink for a cold evening or if you’re just feeling a bit congested and achey.
If you’ve not heard of as Hot Toddy before… you’re in for a treat!
What is a Hot Toddy?
A Hot Toddy, as the name suggests is a hot drink, traditionally drunk just before bed while settling down for the night.
The drink itself is a mixture of hot water, honey, lemon, some herbs and spices… and the key ingredient whiskey (or in our version – Hocus Bourbon)
It’s easy to make and will give you a lovely warm glow on these long winter evenings.
Ingredients
- Honey – 1 teaspoons
- Lemon Juice – ¼ of a lemon
- Cinnamon Stick
- Grated Nutmeg
- 1 or 2 Cloves
- Hocus Bourbon
- Hocus spirit (or mixer)
How to Make

Grab a mug, or a glass (make sure its heatproof!) and add the honey.

Prepare your Hocus
If you’re using an Ampoule, mix our Bourbon Ampoule (or our Bespoken Bourbon) with 25ml of Hocus Base Spirit.
Alternatively if using our Bespoken Bourbon Dual Action dispenser – mix 2 pumps with 25ml of Hocus spirit.

Pour the Hocus Bourbon over the honey and add the lemon juice.

Top up with just boiled water and stir or swirl until the honey has completely dissolved.
5.
Add the cloves and pop in your cinnamon stick. Grate some nutmeg over the top and add a slice of your fresh lemon.
Serve
For a lower alcohol version:
Substitute the 25ml of Hocus Spirit for a mixer such as tonic water or lemonade.
If using the Bespoken Dispenser use three pumps instead of two!
