Spooky Sip: Witch’s Craft Cocktail

It’s that time of year again, when the Hocus team experiment with our drinks to come up with some great cocktails for your seasonal parties and we’ve got a great Halloween drink for you…

Elevate your spooky celebrations with a deliciously eerie cocktail that’s sure to enchant your guests. Our Hocus Witch’s Brew Gin Cocktail combines the crisp, refreshing taste from our London Dry Gin eco-pump with a splash of seasonal flavours, creating a bewitching drink that’s both delightful and a little bit devilish. (or a lot devilish if you go for the alcoholic option!)

Ingredients

  • 4 pumps of London Dry Gin (with 50ml of Hocus Spirit Base)
  • 30ml elderflower liqueur
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 60ml tonic water
  • 20ml Squid Ink (optional for colour)
  • Fresh blackberries or blueberries for garnish
  • Sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish
  • Ice

Method

  1. Prepare the Glass:
    • Start by chilling your favorite cocktail glass. A coupe or a highball glass works beautifully.
  2. Mix the Potion:
    • In a glass add 4 pumps of Hocus London Dry Gin to 50ml of Hocus spirit base. (See below for low alcohol version.
    • In a cocktail shaker, combine the mixed London Dry Gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and squid ink (if using).
    • Fill the shaker with ice and shake well for about 15 seconds until chilled.
  3. Strain and Serve:
    • Strain the mixture into your chilled glass.
    • If you’re using squid ink, you’ll notice a mysterious, dark color that adds to the witchy theme.
  4. Add the Tonic:
    • Top off your potion with tonic water for a refreshing fizz. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Garnish with Spookiness:
    • Add a few fresh blackberries or blueberries for a pop of color and a sprig of thyme or rosemary for an aromatic finish.
    • For an extra spooky touch, you can freeze some berries in ice cubes and use them in your drink.
  6. Enjoy Responsibly:
    • Sip your Witch’s Brew while surrounded by friends, Halloween decorations, and the spirit of the season!

Low alcohol version

The Wiches Craft Cocktail drink can easily be made virtually alcohol-free without impacting the taste.

Add 2 pumps of Hocus Dry Gin into the tonic water (instead of the spirit as per instructions).  

Options

If you’re struggling to find squid ink, and it may not be to everyones taste. You can substitute with black liquid food colouring. Of for a slightly less ‘dark’ look you can use blackcurrant cordial.
